Zylva Nell "Sue" Kendall died Sunday July 31, at Norman Regional Hospital following an extended illness. A long-time Norman resident, she was a life-long Baptist.

A memorial service will be held at Rivermont Retirement Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Born Nov. 28, 1910 in Gould, she attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha in 1933. Before her retirement, she taught school for 32 years, 20 of them at Norman High School, where she was the girls' physical education teacher.

Mrs. Kendall organized the boys' and girls' tennis teams at NHS in 1963. She was the girls' pep club sponsor from 1956 to 1972, and the 1973 yearbook at Norman High was dedicated to her.

Before coming to Norman she served two terms as president of the Oklahoma College for Women Alumni Association. She was an active member of the Oklahoma Alumni Chapter of Zeta Phi Eta, a national speech fraternity. Mrs. Kendall, an avid sports fan, was also a patron of the arts, particularly dance and drama.

For several years she taught swimming as a volunteer with the Red Cross summer swimming program, and for the past several years she was a volunteer at Rivermont Retiremont Home and with Norman Regional Hospital's Reach for Recovery program.

She married Robin F. "Bob Kendall. He was killed in an automobile accident in 1964.

Mrs. Kendall is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Jim Ammerman of Norman, and Lark and Gary Goodman of Beverly Hills, Calif.;a sister and brother-in-law, Ida Lee and Charles Carson of Seattle, Wash.;three grandchildren, Seth and Sean Ammerman and Kendall Goodman; and three neices, Nancy and Alison Shirk and Ann Carson.

The family has suggested the Americn Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice as appropriate for memorial contributions.
